The Oneida County Health Department (OCHD) is asking for caution as they're seeing an increasing number of people testing positiv for COVID-19 here and northern Wisconsin.

Officials say locally, there has been an increase in positive test results in people under 30, people who have participated in organized sports, and people who have attended group gatherings. Officials remind the community that attending large gatherings of any kind is not recommended at this time.

The risk of contracting COVID-19 is greater with larger groups of people, especially if other precautions like physical distancing or face coverings are not being practiced. If you choose to attend any gatherings, they say take steps to protect yourself and others by wearing a face covering, practicing social distancing, and washing your hands.

They recommend the now familiar practices such as not shaking hands, avoid touching your face, staying home as much as possible and avoid travel outside the community.

As of Friday, there are 168 positive cases and four people hospitalized in Oneida county, in Vilas County there's 75 positive tests, Forest county 60 positive cases, 70 positive in Langlade, 72 in Lincoln county, 78 positives in Iron county and Price 32 positives.

Four deaths have been recorded in Forest county and one each in Langlade, Lincoln and Iron counties.
