Speakers Tell Of Historic Three Lakes Camps This Week

Demmer Library

The first Catena Three Lakes speaker presentation for this season will be held Wednesday, April 3rd, sponsored by the Demmer library, Three Lakes Chamber and the Three Lakes Center for the Arts along with community members.

"Catena” means a “chain or connected series”. The Catena speaking events work to connect the people of Three Lakes through a series of stories about the past, present, and future of the community.

Demmer Library Director Erica Brewster talks about the series...

"..On the first and fourth Wednesday in April and May and September and October we hold an event at the Three Lakes Center For the Arts where we have two speakers on a topic that relates to something historic, something of the current day, the future, and related topics...."

The Three Lakes summer camp tradition will be explored with speakers discussing two popular camps..

"..Two summer camps in Three Lakes that are still very popular and ongoing are Camp Luther and Honey Rock Camp. We have the summer traditions of people coming up to camp here, it connects them to the area. Many people will come back and live here because they remember coming to summer camp here. So we will be having a speaker from Camp Luther and one from Honey Rock Camp talking about the traditions and the history of their camp and what makes people want to come here yet camping today..."

There will be light snacks at social hour beginning at 6 PM, with the first speaker starting at 6:30. More information is available at the Demmer Library or their Facebook and library websites.
