St. Clare's To Be Merged With Marshfield Clinic Health Systems

A major change by health providers in central and northern Wisconsin.

Ascension Wisconsin and Marshfield Clinic Health Systems have agreed to merge Ascension St. Clare's Hospital in Weston with Marshfield Clinic. In a joint statement, the healthcare providers have agreed the transaction also includes the transfer of Ascension Wisconsin’s 50 percent interest in The Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Weston (DTC) and Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls to Marshfield Clinic Health Systems.

Bernie Sherry, Ministry Market Executive for Ascension said they came to this agreement in the context of the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape in Wisconsin and nationally.

Dr. Susan Turney, Marshfield Clinic Health Systems CEO says with Ascension St. Clare’s Hospital becoming a part of their system, it's a defining moment for the future of healthcare for people in Weston and Wausau. She says its a continued commitment to health care in rural Wisconsin.

In Wisconsin, Ascension operates 24 hospital campuses, more than 100 related healthcare facilities and employs more than 1,300 primary and specialty care clinicians.

Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) oversees Marshfield Clinic and other subsidiaries,including Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls and Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake.

Marshfield Clinic, with more than 50 locations in Wisconsin, has more than 700 physician specialists in 86 specialties and subspecialties and more than 6,500 employees.
