Summit Next Week Looks At Northwoods Economy

Grow North Regional Economic Development Corp.

Grow North Regional Economic Development is hosting a summit to hear about ways to enhance the Northwoods economy.

Executive Director Brittany Beyer says they will spend the day discussing some of the issues and opportunities facing communities.

She says the will discuss the latest research and data specific to Wisconsin and this region..

"...This is for anyone who is interested in growth in the Northwoods in general, so our municipalities, business owners, people who are interested in what can influence a better, thriving economy here..."

Beyer says they're going to be talking about fresh economic ideas... 

"What incentives help our workforce be able to work in a way that helps families thrive. We're going to be talking about incentive packages including child care and the need. Something that helps our workers get the benefits that they need. But also looking at what is happening with people who are coming into the community and some of the fresh ideas that they can help bring here.."

The keynote speaker is Ron Wirtz of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. Beyer says he will be adding information to the research done by the U-W Extension. Beyer says at the end of the day those folks with initiatives can connect with people to help improve the Northwoods economy.

The summit is Monday, September 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Nicolet College's Lakeside Center. Registration is requested by September 18 at the Grow North Regional Development Corporation website.
