Third Covid-19 Case Reported In Vilas County

Vilas county now has three positive cases of coronavirus.

The Vilas County Public Health Department confirmed that Monday.

Officials say the person is a close contact to one of the other two positive cases in the county. The person is in isolation. The Health Department is contacting individuals with whom the patient had close contact.

Oneida County Public Health over the weekend confirmed a persons in their 60s and another in their 80s were diagnosed with COVID-19. That brings the number of positive cases in both counties to three.

While Oneida county said the affected individuals were unrelated to the first county case, giving what is known as a 'community spread'. But Vilas County Health Officer Laurel Dreger didn't think it was a community spread there because of the close contact with another positive person.

All health officials are repeating the recommendations to stay at home, practice hand washing hygiene frequently, practice social distancing, cover coughs and sneezes, don't touch your face and practice social and physical distancing. More information is at your county public health website.
