Following a planning session last month, Rhinelander City Administrator Daniel Guild says he's moving forward on a desire by common council members to upgrade the city's largest park.
Guild says he's gotten a quote from a private firm JSD Professional Services that has a licensed landscape architect on staff that would collect information from the council and others as to what Hodag Park could be...
"...What this gentleman would do is take all the different pieces of feedback that have been collected by the city about what Hodag Park could be. I've got documents from Friends of Rhinelander Parks, documents from Forward Rhinelander, the city's Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation plan, which has comments about Hodag Park.."
He says there are a number of documents about going back over a decade that were in his office. Guild says he would like to give all that material to the consultant and put together a visually descriptive plotted, planned design. He says those ideas would be given to the public for their feedback.
He says at the point where there was some concensus on what Hodag Park should look like in theory, they would then select and engineer to design it and cost it out for budget purposes. He says they then could look into the possibility of grants and methods of financing the renovations.
Guild says the process could take up to 18 months and could be a phased approach to park upgrades. Guild says he has an idea where he can find the money within the budget and make some adjustments later. The council approved having JSD look at Hodag Park for $9,000.
