Verso considering offer to purchase the company

Verso says they're listening to an offer being made by a holding company for a sale that would include the idled Wisconsin Rapids Paper Mill.

According to a news release this week Verso is cooperating with Atlas Holdings on a possible takeover, but they say Atlas would need to beef up their offer.

Back in July Atlas offered 20 dollars per share to purchase the company, which Verso says isn't enough. Verso says they'll have no further comment at this time, but they do note that they have exchanged documents relevant to the situation.

Even if the deal does materialize, it's still much too soon to know what this would mean for the Wisconsin Rapids facility, which is has been idle for nearly 15 months now.

Crews are working to repair a portion of the facility that was damaged by a fire caused by a lightning strike this summer and doing other maintenance.
