Live from the White Pine

Cobb Brothers Duo with Hand Picked Bluegrass
Peg Arnold

Shad and Jesse Cobb joined Hand Picked Bluegrass for a Live from the White Pine studio performance during WXPR's Bluegrass Saturday. Theresa Seabloom of WXPR's Country Legends hosted the March 23rd on-air broadcast.

We caught up the Cobb Brothers on their spring foray into northern Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Shad came up from Nashville and his work with the John Cowan Band. Jesse recently completed his work with the Infamous Stringdusters. The brothers were are taking a moment to collaborate on new material and explore creative opportunities.

Bluegrass roots for the duo reach back to the early 90s with their Dairyland, Wisconsin family band. From that base they've built extensive musical credits. Shad's include fiddle artistry for the Grand Ole Opry, Mike Snider, Nanci Griffith, Steve Earle, and Willie Nelson, among many others. Jesse's mandolin playing can be heard on Infamous Stringduster and Jim Lauderdale recordings.

Our thanks to Joe and Susan Cronick of Hand Picked Bluegrass for arranging this impromptu session. We're delighted to air the acoustic splendor and dynamic artistry of the Cobb Brothers to the WXPR listening audience.
