Documentary On Rhinelander's Hodag To Be Filmed Saturday

Area residents are invited Saturday morning to Pioneer Park in Rhinelander as a Canadian documentary crew comes to do a program on the Hodag.

Gene Shepard's mythical beast of the woods is part of a 13-segment series says Jerry Shidell, former Rhinelander mayor, current county board member and actor who has portrayed Shepard...

"....Saturday morning(6/15) at 11:00 a.m., they would like a crowd to show up at the Logging Museum in Pioneer Park where they're going to film Gene Shepard's showing of the Hodag , so they want as many people as they can to show up. This is a series of programs called 'Boogeymen'...."

Shidell says the series is scheduled to be broadcast in Canada. Shidell says Shepard showed his Hodag creation at the first Oneida county fair.

Shidell was a character in the 1992 movie made near Eagle River called "Severed Ties" which starred Elke Sommer, Garrett Morris and Oliver Reed.
