Energy Fair To Draw Thousands

Wichita Renewable Energy Group

One of the region’s largest gatherings around renewable energy is coming to Wisconsin this weekend, just outside Stevens Point.  It’s the Midwest Renewable Energy Fair.

Ellie Jackson, events coordinator at the MREA, says she expects up to 20,000 people to descend on the small town of Custer.

“The energy fair is a community of people that come together to learn and share all aspects of renewable energy and energy efficiency and sustainable living. So it’s an educational experience but also a really fun event.”

She says people who attend may trade tips on topics like beekeeping or preserving food, but renewable energy will be a big focus.

“Photovoltaic or solar electric systems, small wind, but then also getting into the nitty-gritty of battery storage, and 'what kind of system is going to work best on my home?'”

The weekend activities will include two keynote speakers and over 200 workshops.
