Updated Grand Piano To Debut This Sunday at RHS

Photo: © Copyright Steinway & Sons".

Not many schools have a Grand Piano, but you have a chance to hear one this Sunday for free and benefit the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry at the same time.

Funding for the  newly restored Steinway Model B Grand  was made possible by a grant from the Hodag Schools Foundation and a gift by Dori Brown.

Rhinelander students from grades 4 through 12 will perform a variety of selections  including pieces by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Lorrie Line and George and Ira Gershwin.

Superintendent Kelli Jacobi says the event is part of recognizing music in the schools..

"...we're doing this concert to enjoy "Music Is Music In Our Schools" Month, as a thank you to (Hodag Schools Foundation). It's a free concert. We're asking for non-perishable food items to be brought for the (Rhinelander Area Food Pantry). So we're mixing lots of things together for a great afternoon..."

Jacobi says it's also a time for the public to see how much work goes into learning to play this type of instrument.

The event begins at 2 p.m. in the Rhinelander High School Auditiorium.
