St. Germain Chamber Gets Grant To Promote "Arctic Warrior Races"

Wi. Dept. of Tourism

The St. Germain Chamber of Commerce has received state marketing money to promote a unique winter event.

The St. Germain Chamber of Commerce is ready for year three of the Arctic Warrior Races.

It's is a multi-race event comprised of a 5k/10k Snowshoe Challenge, 5k/10k Obstacle Course Race, 1k Little Warrior race and Ultimate Warrior race. Chamber Director Penny Strom describes the event...

"...It's a unique event to the state of Wisconsin. It is a 5 or 10 K obstacle course. It's like a 'tough mudder' but it's in the winter time. In 2019 it will be January 12. It's on Little St. Germain Lake. Another unique thing is we do not charge our sponsors to be a part of it. All they have to do is create the obstacle and staff the obstacle and that's it. It's a win-win for everybody...."

The event received a nearly $2,400 Joint Effort Marketing grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. Strom says it will be spent in Milwaukee, Madison and Fox Valley markets.

In 2017, the tourism economy in Wisconsin totaled $20.6 billion, a 3.2 percent increase from 2016. Tourism activity supports 195,255 jobs in Wisconsin. Visitors generated $1.5 billion in state and local revenue. Tourist business sales in Vilas County reached $282.7 million, supporting 1,961 jobs and more than $22.3 million in state and local taxes.
