breakoutdesign.com

He's been known for his work at WXPR and the community and those efforts have led Rhinelander Rotary International club to name Mick Fiocchi as the recipient of the Paul Harris award, the top award given local rotary clubs.

Rotary Club selects members of the community they feel have given of themselves in ways that benefit the community as a whole. The club recognized that Fiocchi has been involved in several altruistic efforts including the Headwaters kitchen and the Pioneer Park playground equipment installation and Red Marquardt Sawmill projects.

He has been club president of both the Rhinelander Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs, board member of the YMCA of the Northwoods and Rhinelander Food Pantry, and most recently, a founding member of NAMI Northern Lakes and it's current board president.

Fiocchi says the award is special...

"...I was a member of Rotary for a number of years until I retired and I always felt the Paul Harris award was given to people who made a difference in their communities, so I feel very honored to be receiving it...."

Mick began with WXPR as a volunteer in 1983 and became a staff member in 1984, becoming station manager in 1989 until his retirement.

He credits the station with moving him toward giving back to the community....

"...Everything I learned about helping building community through non-profit organziations I learned through my involvement with WXPR over the years. I'm very honored to receiving this award for just doing what I wanted to do..."

Mick was also site chair for five years for the Rhinelander Oktoberfest.
