Northwoods Meetings Set To Encourage Make Music Day

Arts Wisconsin

Arts Wisconsin is teaming up with Make Music Day, a worldwide celebration of music, to get organizations, businesses and communities throughout Wisconsin involved in music and community, and to promote Make Music Day in Wisconsin as an annual event.

Aaron Friedman, Director of Make Music Day based in Brooklyn, will be traveling around Wisconsin October 26-30 to promote Wisconsin's participation statewide in Make Music Day.

Seven Wisconsin communities including Rhinelander and Land O'Lakes, Madison, Milwaukee, Platteville, Reedsburg, and Appleton have participated in the Make Music effort.

Executive Director of Arts Wisconsin, Anne Katz, says they want to bring the event to as much of Wisconsin as possible...

"...So Arts Wisconsin is leading the way on a statewide level to make that happen. Aaron Friedman, director of the national organization, he lives in Brooklyn, I'm going to take him around the state. From Land O' Lakes to Kenosha to Mineral Point to stir up interest in communities participating...."

The tour will begin in the Northwoods...

"...Rhinelander and Land O' Lakes have both participated in Make Music Day Wisconsin. I don't want to forget Land O' Lakes. They have the Zombie Crawl that happens on the 26th and Aaron really wants to go to the Zombie Crawl. We're going to start off there, then Sunday morning at 11:00 o'clock on the 27th we're going to be in Eagle River at the Warehouse Arts Center and everyone is invited to talk about how all the communities in the Northwoods can participate..."

All events are free and open to the public.

The next Make Music Day will happen worldwide on Sunday, June 21, 2020.
