Soup Fundraiser Next Week For Northwoods Homeless Shelter

NATH

A fundraiser to help support a Northwoods homeless shelter is set for next week in Woodruff.

The Northwoods Alliance For Temporary Housing, or NATH, is sponsoring their annual Soup for Shelter event January 11 in Woodruff. Area restaurants donate soup for the public.

Executive Director Tammy Modic says you can enjoy warm food and consider a donation to help support the homeless shelter Frederick Place...

"We have soups from area businesses that have donated various flavors of soup for us. At that point, people will be able to do a free will offering and enjoy those delicious soups. We'll have desserts donated by members of Holy Family Catholic Church..."

Modic says there will be door prizes and raffles. In other interviews, Modic reported the shelter in Rhinelander continues to see people staying there and often they are full....

"We have approximately a $50 per day per person cost to have our residents who are experiencing homelessness stay here at Frederick Place. Every $5, every dollar that's donated, every raffle ticket that is bought is helping keep the doors of Frederick Place open...."

Soup for Shelter is set for January 11 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff.
