Frederick Place Needs Help With Meals, Cleaning Supplies
The homeless shelter based in Rhinelander is doing ok for now, but they could use some help from the community to keep things going.
Northwoods Alliance For Temporary Housing(NATH) operates Frederick Place. The facility houses a limited amount of homeless individuals and families and relies on public support to keep its doors open.
Executive Director Tammy Modic says they have nine persons there while still maintaining the requirements of social distancing....
"We certainly still have our doors open. We still have staff that needs to be there 24-7. We're taking as many precautions as possible, hand washing and sanitizing of the area to do as best we can..."
Modic says they're doing OK for the moment, but the struggle will continue as they move on. She says they need to provide food for residents and keep the place clean...
"We still l could use individuals providing a meal to the house. That would help us financially, whether that means they make it themselves and drop it off and ring the doorbell or providing through one of the small businesses in town that have partnered with us...."
She says they will need cleaning supplies that in short supply at the moment, disinfectant, toilet paper, Kleenex, vinyl gloves and related supplies.
She says also in question now are scheduled upcoming fundraisers. She says a couple have been cancelled. She says as of now a golf event May 31 is still a go, but a Brewer trip to Milwaukee in June is up in the air because no one knows if baseball will be played this year.
Modic says more information about helping or other details are available at nathnorthwoods. com, especially for people who might want to help out by providing meals.
NATH serves Oneida, Vilas, Forest, Lincoln and Langlade counties.
