The Park Falls Paper Mill has been substantially liquidated, according to the city’s mayor.

In statement, Mayor Michael Bablick said residents will likely see people from across the country come to Park Falls over the next two years as the process takes place.

Auctions were held last week to sell off equipment and supplies.

Bablick says the historic building will be protected.

It’s likely the reuse of the property will start in some buildings while liquidation continues.

The city has been working with the owner to ensure blight prevention, economic recovery, and protection of the environment.

"The liquidation of the Mill represents the end of an era and the beginning of a new one," said Bablick.

Bablick says he is personally working to secure all of the historical items and records from the papermill site with cooperation of the owner.
