Wisconsin housing market expected to become more competitive heading into spring

With the start of spring, experts say the already competitive housing market is going to get worse.

The Wisconsin Realtors Association just released its February report. It that found the number of homes sold continued to decline.

Sales have gone down nearly five percent compared to February 2021, while prices have increased more than nine percent.

"Two, three, four years from now, it will probably be a much more balanced market. For now, though, at least for the next year, probably year and a half, it's going to be a seller's market," said David Clark, Professor of Economics at Marquette University.

May through August are the peak times to sell a home.

Clark said the demand is strong but the supply is weak, making the market even more attractive to sellers.
