Inspire Grow North Brings Students, Businesses Toward Careers

Grow North Regional Economic Development Corp.

Grow North Regional Economic Development Corporation has joined with the state in an effort called Inspire Wisconsin, a way to connect businesses and the state's K-12 system.

Grow North's Executive Director Brittany Beyer says students in grades 6-12 develop a profile as to where they want to go in their career...

"...Inspire allows businesses to put up a profile and then even deepen the engagement by building engagement with local schools so they can do career mentorships, job shadows leading to internships, youth apprenticeships...."

Beyer says Inspire is a way to give students and educators a deeper understanding of the jobs that are available...

"...Inspire Grow North is being deployed by Grow North in the CESA 9 region where we're working with the schools and businesses, specifically to put up their business profiles. So if people are interested in building a profile for their business, that really allows them to show all the career paths inside of it...."

Beyer says they help businesses put the profile on line. She says the business can talk more with the schools, offer job shadows. Beyer says they are working hard now to get as many businesses on line as possible before the start of the next school year.

She says they are also working with local chambers to see how they can support their local school systems. Buyer recommends any business interested in finding out more information should go to the Grow North Regional Economic Development's website, Google Inspire Grow North, inspirewisconsin.org

Grow North is the regional organization for Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and covers Forest, Florence, Marinette, Lincoln, Langlade, Oconto, Oneida, and Vilas counties.
