Starjournalnow.com

Monday, the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce kicked off a two-month " Buy Local" campaign to highlight the importance of local businesses during this challenging time.

Chamber Executive Director Lauren Sackett says local support is key...

"We are kicking off the eight-week long, "Buy Local" campaign really to highlight the importance of our local businesses and how they are key to our economic recovery..."

She says this promotion is a way for the community to rally around the local businesses.

"For the next eight weeks we're going to share articles, launch some special activities, but really the main thing we are doing is we're encouraging local businesses, residents and visitors to utilize our social media tool kit which is on our website..."

Sackett says the tool kit has graphics, logos, key messaging and more that individual businesses can use to highlight the 'buy local' campaign. Lauren says local businesses are the backbone of the economy with the money they invest, along with employees. She says any way you can support them supports the community.

She says one topic is titled, "Eating Locally". It will show how restaurants have been impacted and how you can support them. Other topics will follow. Sackett says they're hoping to build community pride through the campaign.

More information is on the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce website or through the office.
