Rhinelander Lions Club offers Christmas dinner to community

Holiday traditions may be modified again this year, but they’re still persevering.

That’s the case for the Rhinelander Lions Club Christmas Dinner.

For more than 40 years, the Rhinelander Lions Club has been making sure anyone who wants a Christmas meal gets one.

Jack Flint was one of those people.

“My wife and I, when we were new to the community, went there just to have a nice Christmas dinner and meet some people for Christmas in a situation where normally we didn’t have family and friends,” said Flint

Now the Lions Club public relations co-chair, Flint encourages anyone and everyone in the Rhinelander area to come get a free meal.

With COVID safety on their minds, the Lions Club dinner is much like last year.

People can come by the Rhinelander Trig’s deli entrance between noon and 1:30 p.m. on Christmas Day to pick up their meal.

“Trig’s has been extremely supportive this year. They’ve helped with cooking the turkey’s, preparing the potatoes by using their ovens. They’ve also helped us with warming equipment and of course use of their facilities. Trig’s has just been a godsend to us this year,” said Flint.

For people who live in the Rhinelander area and are homebound, the Lion’s Club will deliver meals.

You can need to call before Friday to order. The number for that is 715-420-0523.

You don’t need to call ahead if you’re picking up a meal at Trig’s, though Flint says it would be helpful.
