Governor Walker has asked for applications for appointment to the vacant sheriff's job in Vilas county.
Sheriff Frank Tomlanovich died last week after a short illness.

The new sheriff will begin serving upon appointment and will complete a term ending January 5, 2015.
An applicant must reside in Vilas County at the time the appointment becomes effective.
