Propane Help For Lower-Income Residents Offered

en.wikipedia.org

Business has been brisk at the Oneida County Department of Social Services office as they try to get relief to qualifying persons heating with propane.

Support Programs Supervisor Amy Mayo says people who think they qualify for financial help paying for propane should see them..

?

"....we can complete an application for the Home Energy Assistance Program. The regular heating season goes from October 1 through May 15. They may be eligible for regular benefit. We do need to determine eligibility for the regular heating season, and then we can determine if we can give people some assistance with their propane...."

She says there is no cap on the funding, if eligible, they will receive the full benefit, depending on income. Mayo says besides stopping in the courthouse, you can get more information on the programs available at the department's website...

?

"....which is www.ocdss.com It does explain the eligibility requirements for the fuel assistance program. It talks about propane issues and how to contact our agency...."

Another program is the Keep Wisconsin Warm Fund run by a statewide charity.

Mayo says they've had a large increase in call volume since propane availability began to fall behind demand. Your local county Social Services department has more information.
