Pelican Lake Tree Farmer To See His Tree In Capitol

en.wikipedia.org

A Pelican Lake tree farmer will be on hand Friday  as a tree from his yard becomes  the main Christmas tree at the state Capitol in Madison.

The tree lighting will be at noon in the Capitol rotunda.

Dennis and Kim Schoeneck donated the 40 foot high balsam...

"....I actually cut it and I delivered it. It's pretty overwhelming. I had no idea what I was in for and now the gap left by where the tree was was right on my driveway so it's an everyday reminder that I will have to plant another one...."

A number of other trees are also being supplied for the Capitol square and for the Executive Mansion.
The tree was  decorated with hand-made ornaments from across that state, based on this year's theme - Honoring Wisconsin's Veterans.

Schoeneck Tree Farm was  named 2014 National Regional Tree Farmers of the Year by the American Tree Farm System, a program of the American Forest Foundation.
