Vilas Co. Releases Names Of Drowning, Crash Victims

The Vilas County Sheriff's Department has released the name of the Tuesday drowning victim near Boulder Junction.

The victim was identified as 62 year old Charles Armitage of Mount Dora, Florida. His body was recovered just before 9:00 a.m. Wednesday. Armitage fell overboard while fishing on White Sand Lake. He was not wearing a lifejacket. DNR wardens, the Oneida County Sheriff's Department Dive Team, Boulder Junction Fire and EMS and other agencies were involved in the recovery.

Vilas county authorities also have released the name of the driver  killed in a fiery crash early Sunday near Phelps. Killed was 16 year old Jacob Sieg of Phelps.

Sieg's vehicle left Highway 17 near Phelps. The vehicle went airborne then hit a tree. The vehicle came to rest on its side then caught fire.
