Rhinelander has hired a new city administrator.

Kristina Aschenbrenner comes to Rhinelander  after working as the court administrator for the 10 Judicial District of the State Supreme Court at Eau Claire. She also has been the Clerk of Circuit Court in Eau Claire county and for 10 years was in the Army National Guard, as a non-commissioned officer.

Mayor Dick Johns says they had informal and formal interviews this weekend....

"...very good candidates, all four, but we could only pick one. We worked both Friday night and Saturday in regards to it...."

City council member Mark Pelletier says they were impressed with Aschenbrenner's desire for the job...

"....when you look at where they want to be in their life and it's here doing this, it's like 'wow'. There's a strong sense of wanting to be a part of the community that we haven't seen before...."

Aschenbrenner has returned a signed contract before Monday night's city council meeting. She is expected to be on the job in early September. Interim City Administrator Phil Parkinson says he will stay until the council meeting next month.

Former administrator Blaine Oborn left the post earlier this summer to take a  similar job in Lake Geneva.
