The Future Of Iron County Development Meeting Topic

A plan that could have a long term impact on Iron county citizens is being reviewed in a few days.

The Iron County Citizen's Forum is holding a meeting March 9 at the Oma Town Hall to update residents on the county's Comprehensive Plan. The plans are required by law to give everyone an idea how a county wants to develop.

Forum spokesperson Terry Daulton says there's been an active process in developing the draft plan..

"...this time Iron county is doing it with a new format called 'asset based' planning. They've selected a group of citizens from around the county, different walks of life to participate in the process to come up with a draft...."

Daulton says this plan will be much bolder in terms of defining a desired future for Iron County and in laying out an achievable path for success using the resources that exist in the community...

"....what are the assets we have here in the county, how can we best utilize those and make a future for the county that is both effective for the citizens and makes us of what we have the best chance of optimizing...."

Daulton says the March 9 at 7 p.m. workshop provides an opportunity for anyone interested in the future of Iron County to react to preliminary asset lists and development opportunities, and other ideas.

For more information on the March program, or for information on the Iron County Citizen’s Forum, contact Terry Daulton, 715-476-3530.
