As the campaign winds down to the final weeks leading to the election.

Governor Walker stopped in Eagle River Sunday.

Walker emphasized his record on the economy, unemployment, the budget surplus and schools.

He jabbed at his opponent Tony Evers....

"...Good things are happening and it's really a stark contrast between my record and our plans for the future which would take us forward, or Tony Evers plan would take us backwards. Tony Evers plan would take us backwards through higher property tax, higher income taxes, and higher gas taxes..."

Walker says the economy now is far different than when he took office.

Walker was asked why the race is close given the economy....

"...It's just a close state. In previous elections, George W. Bush and Al Gore was one of the closest in the nation. We've historically seen that in other races since then. It's pretty even in terms of the numbers. We can't take anything for granted. I think part of it as well is we've been the victims of our own success...."

Walker also stopped in Tomahawk Sunday.

Depending on the polls, Walker has either drawn even with Democratic challenger Tony Evers, or still trails Evers by several points.
