Turnbull Says People Responding To Her Independent Gov. Campaign

Margaret Turnbull

While the two most well-known gubernatorial candidates stumped Friday in Rhinelander, an independent candidate for Governor says the public has one last chance to hear the candidates who aren't the best known.

Dr. Margaret Turnbull, an Antigo native, is running with Rhinelander educator Wil Losch on an independent ticket for Governor and Lt. Governor.

Turnbull sees her candidacy as a place between the Republican and Democrat camps. ..

"...A lot of early voting with tens of thousands of ballots already being cast around the state. I'm feeling the energy as I go around the state right now. A lot of positive energy. Finally the word about our campaign is really spreading around the state and I'm getting a lot of response...."

She says while campaigning she's hearing from many people dissatisfied with both political parties. She favors the legalization of marijuana to help generate revenue for the state. She also favors what's termed ranked voting, where she feels, candidates not in the mainstream have a better chance.

She invited the public to tune in for a debate involving four candidates for Governor this Sunday in Oshkosh...

"...Our final candidate forum, there will be one more debate. That will be Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. on the UW-Oshkosh campus. We will have the Libertarian Phil Anderson will be there, the Wisconsin Party Arnie Enz, the Green Party Michael White will be there, and I also, Maggie Turnbull, will be there as the independent..."

WXPR has made arrangements to get a copy of this Sunday's forum and we're planning to run the one-hour debate Monday at 4:00 p.m.
