Demmer Library In Three Lakes Nearing Opening Of Updated Facility

Demmer Memorial Library

EEven in the bitter cold weather this week, folks have been working to get the Demmer Library in Three Lakes from it's temporary quarters downtown to it's new facility a few blocks away.

Library Director Erica Brewster says the end of the $2.2 million dollar remodel and expansion project is nearing an end...

"..We're excited to see some new furniture come in. We have children's shelving in. We have more deliveries scheduled for next week. We hope to start moving some of our other furniture yet this week and next week. We're looking forward to hopefully opening to the public in mid-February..."

The library continues to be open with regular hours at the temporary quarters downtown.

They will be closed during the main move to the updated library...

"..Tentatively we're looking at closing on February 7, then reopening the next week at our new location. It all depends on weather, moving and logistics. We ask people to stay tuned to our website and Facebook pages for any changes...."

Erica Brewster says they're thrilled with how the construction has gone and they're looking forward to bringing the public in...

"...The project includes a 21st century library, complete makeover of the former Demmer Library building. We did about a 3,000 square foot expansion then added space for the historical society museum and visitor's center and staff offices for the museum. In the new building we have some unique touches. One of the big things people have been demanding accessible space for after-hours meetings..."

Brewster says they also have a 'libratory', a hands-on learning space among other new features.
