A Minocqua man, Gerald Stodola, 57, doing business as Stodola Contracting Solutions, faces two felony theft by contractor charges in Vilas County and will have a preliminary hearing May 6 for allegedly involving work not completed on the St. Germain Chamber of Commerce building and remodeling a private home.

Appearing in Vilas County court Monday with his defense attorney Ben Lucareli, the preliminary hearing time limit was waived.

According to the criminal complaint Stodola signed a contract to construct an updated Chamber of Commerce building in St. Germain and failed to complete the work leaving the chamber with a loss of $97,189. A second felony count alledges Stodola failed to remodel a kitchen, basement, and main floor of a private residence which was to be done during a four week period of March, 2018. The person is alledged to have paid him with two checks totalling $89,000.

Vilas County Judge Neal Nielsen, III set May 6 for a preliminary hearing on both Vilas County cases and freed Stodola on $1,000 signature bonds. Oneida County court records indicate Stodola is involved in five civil cases pending filed by Goodin Company of Minneapolis, Benjamin Beutke Trust of Long Point, IL, Mid-America Carpets of Woodruff, LaCoursiere Drywall of Verona, and American Builders Supply of WestLake Village, CA
