Tiffany Hints He Is Seriously Considering Congressional Run

Wisconsin.gov

A Northwoods legislator has an interest in the Congressional seat soon to vacated by Sean Duffy.

State Senator Tom Tiffany said Tuesday the idea of running for the unserved portion of Duffy's term interests him. He first thanked the four-term member of Congress...

"Thanks to Sean Duffy for his representation up here. He did a terrific job covering the district whether you agree with his politics or not. He was available to people he had listening sessions in every corner of the district. I wish he and his wife the best. It's going to be a real challenge for them as they go forward..."

The Minocqua Republican is thinking about tossing his hat in the ring...

"Some of us have a choice to make as to what we're going to do. I'm actively looking at a run here. Talking to my friends and supporters, hopefully putting together a good group. If that all comes together then I'll probably run..."

Another State Senator, Democrat Janet Bewley of Mason in Bayfield county said she would take a look at it and Democratic State Representative Nick Milroy of South Range in Douglas county also told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel he also said he would be interested.

Duffy announced Monday he would step down next month to help his family with the upcoming birth of his ninth child. Duffy said the child has a heart condition and he wanted to be closer to home.

The winner of the race in the massive 7th Congressional District would serve until Duffy's term ends next year, then would have to run for reelection for a full two-year term.
