Push For Direct Election Of President Focus Of January Meeting

The last presidential election resulted in something that has happened only a handful of times in U.S. history: the winner of the popular vote did not win the White House.

The reason: a system called the Electoral College. There's a national movement to use the Electoral College system in a different way and have the popular vote always result in the winner of the presidency.

League of Women Voters of the Northwoods President Dr. Dorothy Skye. She also is serving on the National Popular Vote Committee with the Wisconsin League of Women Voters.

The local meeting is January 14, at noon during the monthly meeting of the League of Women Voters of the Northwoods (LWVNOW), at the Tomahawk Public Library (300 W. Lincoln Av in Tomahawk). The public is invited.
