Update: Oneida County Sends Hotel Plans Back to Town of Minocqua

Town of Minocqua

MINOCQUA – The developer of a proposed 9-unit hotel in Minocqua will have to come back to the town after the county tabled his request for a conditional use permit.

Eagle River developer Glenn Schiffmann wants to build the hotel on property that once housed Bay View Inn and Mom’s Laundromat just north of the downtown. The county planning and development committee’s decision Thursday to send it back to the town follows a recommendation from the town board to deny the application.

The town has concerns about adequate vehicular parking, as well as traffic flow onto U.S. Highway 51. Still unresolved are the number of piers on Lake Minocqua that the property will be allowed, as well as parking on the town road right-of-way.

Town chairman Mark Hartzheim said Monday(2/10/2020) that the agent for the developer plans to submit revised plans at next week’s plan commission. In addition, the chairman said the town attorney hopes to have an opinion on the right-of-way issue by week’s end.
