Easy Way To Protect Against The Flu: Water and Soap

en.wikipedia.org

No doubt you've heard of folks in the Northwoods who have been experiencing an outbreak of colds, flu and in some cases digestive problems. Perhaps you've been sick recently. The easiest way to reduce your chances of getting sick can be as easy as washing your hands.

Oneida County Health Department Specialist Marta Koelling talks about an easy prevention technique...

"....make sure you're washing your hands, that's the biggest thing. Also, this time of year people tend to get sick. It's pretty common in Wisconsin for respiratory illnesses to be going around, the flu, cold that sort of thing. And also, quite a few stomach bugs...."

Koelling says the kids come home from school and tend to move the germs to others, and visits to friends and relatives in other places also can bring illness to you.

Experts have said to wash your hands after you get home from shopping as the shopping carts can also be a place where germs linger.

Koelling says another way to reduce your chance of getting the flu is to get a flu shot. She says Oneida County Health Department still has the vaccine, but their supply is limited so if you want to get the shot, to do so soon.
