An investigation will look into the suicide of an inmate at the Oneida County Jail in Rhinelander.
The Sheriff’s Office says around 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, corrections officers saw the inmate attempting to commit suicide.
Both corrections officers and Rhinelander Fire Department Medics tried to save the inmate’s life.
They were not successful and the inmate was pronounced dead.
The identity of the inmate will be withheld until family members can be notified.
The Vilas County Sheriff’s Office and the Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Office are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
The State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections has been notified and is conducting an administrative review.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an internal review following the death.
