A lakes meeting that usually is held in Oneida county is also joining the online presentation mode next month.

Lakes advocates and other interested persons from six northern Wisconsin counties are invited to an online discussion of issues related to lake quality and protection on Friday, July 10. The event has been held at Nicolet College in past years, but due to the virus is going online this year.

Past president of the Vilas Lakes and Rivers Association, Steve Budnik, says the theme this year is "Shoreland Owner Outreach"....

"What shoreland owners could do, do's and don'ts, best practices that sort of thing for improving or protecting their shoreline, or helping their neighbors do the same..."

Budnik says they hope to get realtors to join the discussion. Among the speakers invited are Michael Engleson, Executive Director of Wisconsin Lakes and Patrick Goggin of UW-Extension Lakes. Budnik says the full agenda will be available in a few days. The live discussion will be from 9 a.m. to noon.

Participants are expected from Oneida, Vilas, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, and Iron counties, and from outside the area. The meeting is expected to be both a Zoom meeting and a call-in says Budnik.

The event is jointly sponsored by OCLRA (www.oclra.org) and the Vilas County Lakes and Rivers Association (www.vclra.org).
