New Hope Shelter Highlights National Hunger and Homelessness Week

New Hope Shelter

This week is National Hunger and Homelessness week, and the New Hope Shelter and Transitional Housing in Crandon is highlighting the need for shelters and food pantries in the Northwoods. New Hope provides temporary housing to residents from Florence County and the surrounding areas. Director Micah Dewing says although this time of year is busy with holiday preparation, he’s reminding people to think of everyone this holiday season.

“…not everyone is in the same situation of stable housing, stable supply of food and stable network of support. There are people out there struggling with those things, and it’s important to keep community minded awareness of everyone.”

Dewing says in the five years the shelter has been open, they’ve had consistent need for their services, and says they’re always open to donations. For more information visit newhopeshelter.net
