Man Drowns When Canoe Capsizes In Lincoln County

An Illinois man died when a canoe flipped in Lincoln County early Saturday.  A press release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday on Lake Alice, which is east of Tomahawk.

A caller told the dispatch center two people had been in the canoe which capsized.  One was able to swim to shore.  Dive teams from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Tomahawk Fire Department and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office came to help search for the missing man.

Divers recovered the body of 18-year-old Andrew Adams of Champaign, Illinois, around 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

The drowning is considered to have been an accident.
