Rhinelander District Library Foundation Kicks of Ced Vig Holiday Book Fund Drive

Rhinelander District Library

From movies to videos games to computer services, what local libraries offer has evolved over the years.
But a constant has been and always will be books.

Of course, to keep with the times, the library needs to constantly keep updating its collection and buy new books.

That’s where the Rhinelander District Library Foundation comes in.

Starting next week, it’s collecting donations for its annual Ced Vig Holiday Book Fund Drive.

The money from the drive goes solely to buying book for the library.

“This is for actual books for children’s department, youth, adult department. It’s an annual event and we’ve raised thousands of dollars for that and it’s very much needed,” said Foundation President Carla Chropkowski.

Normally, there’d be a drop box for donations inside the library, but the library is currently only offering curbside pickup.

The library foundation is hoping people will respond to the mailer they send out with donations.

Chropkowski said it’s been amazing to see the library adapt to the pandemic and still offer services.

“With things closing down and risks increasing in our communities, the library is still there,” said Chropkowski. “They’re still providing an awesome job. It’s for a curbside service and so that’s really important that that’s one of the things, one of the steady things that’s still going on despite what’s going on around us.”

The mailer for the holiday drive goes out December 1st.

You can also donate on the Library Foundation’s website or by mailing a check payable to RDLF, P.O. Box 1225, Rhinelander, WI 54501.
