‘Stuff-a-Truck’ Event to Collect Donations for Frederick Place in Rhinelander

The Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing is trying something new to help check items off its Christmas Wish List.

NATH is holding a “Stuff-A-Truck” event for Frederick Place in Rhinelander.

On December 10th from noon to 6:00 p.m. a truck will be parked outside Frederick Place on West Fredrick Street.

People can stop by and drop off donations.

Executive Director Tammy Modic says all the donations support Frederick Place and the people who have recently left.

“We use them in the house or sometimes we put together care packages for individuals who get their own apartments. So some of the items may go to that cause also,” said Modic.

Some items on the wish list include snow shovels, postage stamps, and laundry baskets.

When someone experiencing homelessness first arrives at Frederick Place, they’re given a laundry basket full of basic-need items. It’s one of things they take with them when they leave.

“It’s not like we only need 16 and when they break you get a new one,” said Modic.

Things like pillows, Northwoods Transit punch cars, and home improvement store gift cards also make up the list.

It’s all things that support people who need help and make Frederick Place feel like a home, even if it’s just a temporary one.

“It is a house, just like your own home, that sometimes has issues, especially when it’s a 100-plus-year-old home,” said Modic.

You can find NATH’s entire wish list here.
