Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook

The first ever Hodag Heritage Days launched yesterday.

It’ll continue through May 21 at Pioneer Park in Rhinelander.

It's a way to have fun, while also supporting area businesses as they recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

"People are really looking forward to something to do. By us having the Heritage Days and having us bring out the best of Rhinelander with some very unique dishes. With Rhinelander in our dishes," said Tom Jordens, Chef, CT's Deli.

The event was originally planned for last year, but like so much else, was postponed by COVID.

"The idea of giving our community something that they can get excited about. They can celebrate, they can celebrate each other, and our heritage all at the same time," said Rachel Boehlen, Event & Program Coordinator, Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce.

The week will feature a variety of events, including a scavenger hunt for mini hodags and a parked parade.

"The Hodag, it's a special creature, it's pretty unique to Rhinelander. There's nothing else quite like it in the world. It deserves celebrating," said Ben Brunell, Owner of the Hodag Store.

More information on the week’s festivities can be found on the Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce website.
