Sober Living House for Women Opens in Langlade County

WAOW Television

There is now a sober living home for women in Langlade County.

The Hope House is run by North Central Health Care (NCHC).

The county purchased the property more than a year ago and through a partnership with the city of Antigo and NCHC, women now have a place to go for help with addiction and substance abuse.

The house is run by NCHC staff as well as a live-in mentor who is actively in recovery.

The sober living house offers a strong foundation for those in recovery.

"Individuals are going out there and seeking treatment they're trying to be true to their individual recovery, but then you come back to your old living house, your old habits, your old connections and a lot of peer pressures. Without those positive supports when you're early in that recovery that can present a lot of challenges," said Toni Kellner, the community living director for NCHC.

A Hope House location reopened in Wausau in November and has five beds and is open to both men and women.

More information about the houses in Antigo and Wausau as well as application forms can be found here.
