Northland Pines Athletic Director Resignation Accepted

Katie Thoresen/WXPR

In a special meeting last week, the Northland Pines board of education accepted the resignation of athletic director Brian Margelofsky after reviewing an investigative report by district administrator Scott Foster.

Foster indicated he felt Margelofsky made a “poor choice” in removing items from the concession stand being used to store a la cart items and milk sales to help with COVID restrictions. The cooler was not being used for athletics since they were canceled.

Foster indicated the food service felt items were missing from the inventory in early May. There was a review of video footage on May 17 and showed eight instances where Margelofsky was seen “removing items from the concession stand and freezer/kitchen area during times in the evening when school was not in session.”

Margelofsky admitted to Foster he had taken items from the concession stand without obtaining permission and failed to pay for the items taken. The total value of the items was estimated to be less than $100.

The special school board meeting accepted his submitted resignation letter. He had been athletic director for 14 years.
