A motorcyclist has died after failing to handle a curve and hitting a tree early yesterday Tuesday morning, according to the Taylor County Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office said a 911 call came in around noon reporting a motorcycle accident that appeared to have happened overnight. It left a man unresponsive in a ditch in the Town of Hammel.
The crash happened on County Road E just south of Highway 64.
Once on scene, first responders determined the driver had died. He has since been identified as 49-year-old Brian Rygiel of Chippewa Falls.
Police believe the crash happened after 3 a.m. Rygiel was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and police say alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
