Senator Baldwin Urges Loggers to Take Advantage of Pandemic Relief Funding

Senator Tammy Baldwin is urging timber harvesters and haulers to take advantage of pandemic-relief funding set aside for them. $200 million dollars is available through the USDA.

In a visit to the Northwoods last week, Sen. Baldwin (D-Wisconsin) said loggers have taken one hit after another in recent years.

She believes this funding will help the industry survive.

“It will not hold them harmless from the harm that’s been caused by these various economic challenges, but it will hopefully keep some in business that are teetering on the edge,” said Sen. Baldwin.

Loggers should reach out to their local FSA office to apply for the program.

As people are verified, they’ll get an initial $2,000.

With the funding that remains after that, loggers could get up to $125,000 based on their losses in the last year and how much money is available.

The deadline to apply is October 15th.
