Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest area reopens after plane crash

Wikimedia Commons

The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest reopened the area where a private plane crashed and killed three people last week.

The Town of Hiles also reopened Butternut Lake Road.

Forest officials had closed a section of the forest near Eagle River for an investigation into the crash.

That investigation is led by the National Transportation Safety Board, along with the Federal Aviation Administration. It is still ongoing.
