The state Department of Natural Resources policy board has taken no action on whether to hire its own attorney.
The board met for more than an hour in closed session Monday.
The Wisconsin DNR is facing two lawsuits over its wolf management policies.
“We were informed from the Department of Justice that we have been dismissed, the board, NRB has been dismissed from the state lawsuit. We are still members of the federal lawsuit. The hearing is next week. At this time the board voted to take no action,” said NRB Chairman Fred Prehn.
Prehn had previously said that he wasn’t sure if Democratic Attorney General Josh Kaul’s Department of Justice will represent board members’ pro-wolf management position in court because its attorneys aren’t talking to board members.
At least one DOJ attorney participated in Monday’s meeting conducted over Zoom.
