A variety of Rhinelander restaurants are helping out the Rhinelander Community Foundation next week with an event called "Dine for a Difference".

Foundation board member Gina Heck says the event is designed for wide cross-section of the public to enjoy a meal and help the foundation...

"..there's an outlet for every palate and budget. Participants just come out and have dinner, possibly some drinks, at one of the participating spots and a portion of their check will be donated to Rhinelander Community Foundation based upon how much the restaurant has pledged to do so...."

Participating restaurants include Big Daddy's, Brown Street 151, The Brick, CT's Deli, Culver's, Historic Davenport House, Hodag Steakhouse, Rhinelander Cafe and Pub, and Rocky's Roadhouse. Dine for a Difference is Tuesday, April 9 from 4 to 8 p.m.

Heck says the Foundation will soon launch a competitive granting process.

They will be accepting grant applications beginning May 1 from qualifying organizations serving Rhinelander...

"..Organizations will be able to use our grant application which is located on our website. If they have a need for financial assistance for some type of progressive new project or programming, they will be able to ask for financial assistance through that process..."

The Rhinelander Community Foundation has awarded more than $110,000 in grants to area non-profits and for projects benefiting the community.
