The 15th annual USA Pond Hockey tournament on Dollar Lake east of Eagle River is set for February 7-9, 2020 with team registration set to open mid-August, according to information shared last week at Chanticleer Inn.
USA Hockey senior director Ashley Bevan of Colorado Springs put to rest rumors they were going elsewhere in 2020.
“We will be coming back to Dollar Lake in 2020,” Bevan stated. “We have had discussions with other cities who want us but my position is we are not interested at this moment.”
Bevan announced they will have a “special event” planned with the Eagle River Recreation Association that he said “is unique in hockey history” but wanted to hold off revealing what that was, saying only “hockey fans, players, and visitors will enjoy what we have planned.”
Bevan said a new registation server will be able to handle the call volume when registration opens that can handle as many as 700 calls in the first minute.
The event limits registration to around 300 teams.
